A) Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting is the supreme governing body of INCLEN Africa. The members are all registered INCLEN Africa members attending the meeting.

B) INCLEN-Africa Council

INCLEN-Africa council is the policy making body for INCLEN-Africa. It is composed of INCLEN-Africa Executive and two representatives from each CEU/CERT (The director and one elected ordinary member). The Council elects the Chairperson for a term of two years.

C) Secretariat Office

The office is headed by the Secretary General who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Association and hence responsible for the day-to-day administration of the affairs, coordination of research, training and development activities of INCLEN-Africa. The Secretary General is appointed for a term of 4 years renewable only once.
 

 

Membership in INCLEN-Africa


There are 3 categories of membership in INCLEN-Africa

FOUNDER MEMBERSHIP
CEUs/CERTCs which shall be established in whichever country and which have originally subscribed to the constitution hereof and to membership at or prior to the date of formal application for registration of INCLEN-Africa.

ORDINARY MEMBERSHIP
These shall include CEUs/CERTCS formed subsequent to the registration (or application thereof) of the Association and who shall subscribe to the Constitution hereof and to the membership of INCLEN-AFRICA at any date after the date of formal application for registration of INCLEN-Africa.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
These shall be individual(s), non-CEU/CERT institutions, corporations or any other such bodies as shall be determined and approved by the Council for membership.

 

 

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP

Any CEU or corporate body or institution wishing to become a member of INCLEN-AFRICA shall complete and submit an appropriate application form to the Council.
Upon approval and payment of the appropriate subscription the applicant will become an Ordinary Member or Associate Member of INCLEN-AFRICA.

 

 

INCLEN Criteria for Admitting New CEUs and CERTCs

  1. The core faculty of the prospective CEU must consist of the following:

At least 2 epidemiologists, at least one of whom must have attained any of the following training levels: (1) M.D. + M.Sc. (in Clinical Epidemiology or Epidemiology), or (ii) M.D. + M.P.H. (Field Epidemiology or Public Health or Community Medicine). The second epidemiologist may or may not have a medical degree but should have at Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Epidemiology.
At least 1 biostatistician with at least M.Sc. level training.

  1. Additional faculty members trained in health/clinical economics, health social sciences and public health/field epidemiology are optional but highly desirable for the CEU. At the least, the CEU must demonstrate functional linkages with at least one faculty/professional trained in each of these three disciplines.

  2. Dedicated physical space and adequate communications facilities for the CEU.

1. The CEU (or equivalent, if not called a "CEU") must provide, at a minimum, a University-recognized master's program in the core disciplines of clinical epidemiology.

2. The training program must have School of Medicine and/or School of Public Health accreditation.

3. The faculty complement of the prospective CERTC must consist of the following:

3 or more epidemiologists, at least two of whom are clinical epidemiologists
1 or more biostatisticians
access or linkages to a social scientist and health/clinical economist.

4. The faculty members must be actively involved in health/clinical research.

5. The CEU must have adequate physical space, communications and computer facilities for its trainees.
